The Council provides all residents of the borough with information on a range of low cost home ownership schemes, including homebuy, cash incentive grants, shared ownership, key worker living and the right to buy.
Who is eligible
The cash incentive, homebuy and the right to buy schemes are available to council tenants. The homebuy scheme is also available to housing association tenants. Shared ownership is available for council tenants, housing association tenants and, in some cases, residents on the housing waiting list. There is also the key worker living scheme, which is open to employees in the education, health, police and fire services.
How to access the service

Accessibility
There are good public transport links to the home shop, which is at ground level and as there are no stairs there is wheelchair access. There is no designated parking for users of the home shop and parking in the area is limited as it is in a controlled parking zone.
What happens next
For tenants who would like to buy their current home under the right to buy scheme, we promise to
- send you an application form for the right to buy within one working day
- acknowledge your right to buy application within three working days
- send you an offer notice, giving you full details of the sale within eight weeks of confirming your right to buy if you are buying a house or within 12 weeks if you are buying a flat.
