Alcohol strategy

The overall strategic aim is to reduce alcohol related harm in Lewisham, so that people living, working and learning in the borough do not suffer the consequences of their, or others', alcohol misuse.

We will achieve this through five standards of activity:

  • improved education and communication
  • better identification and treatment of alcohol problems
  • better coordination of multi-agency approaches to tackling alcohol related crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour
  • encourage licensed premises to promote responsible drinking and to take a role in reducing alcohol-related harm
  • a strategy for recording, collating, analysing and monitoring alcohol related data.

The objectives have been developed through discussion with stakeholders and are informed by best practice identified in the national alcohol strategy, local research and elsewhere.
