Out of hours support

Lewisham's adult and children social care out of hours team can help with urgent problems outside normal office hours.

What if you need to contact adult or children social care during the evening?

We know that not all unexpected major problems happen during normal office hours (9am-5pm) or can wait until the next day. Our out of hours team is here to help with these emergencies.

What sort of problems can the out of hours team help you with?

  • difficulties with children and young people
  • child protection issues
  • older people who are at risk or who need immediate help
  • concerns about a person with a physical or a sensory disability
  • support in coping with someone who has severe learning difficulties or mental health problems
  • Mental Health Act assessments
  • act as an Appropriate Adult for young people and vulnerable adults
  • homelessness.

How to access the service

To contact the team out of hours phone 020 8314 6000.

What happens next

When you call, an operator will answer the phone and take details of why you are phoning. You will then be called back by a qualified social worker who will give you help and guidance. If they think you need to speak to someone else, they will give you another telephone number or contact details. Sometimes, they may give your details to another social work team who will contact you on the next working day.
