In-house home care service

The in-house home care service provides 3000 hours of care per week to residents within the borough. There are 160 home care workers employed who provide a service to a wide range of service users. We have a specialist mental health team, and our staff are experienced in working with people with terminal illness and in rehabilitation work.

All our staff are trained and experienced and all our service users are visited twice a year to obtain their views on the service they receive. Feedback is then given to service users in a newsletter and a report is sent to the Commission for Social Care (CSCI).

In January 2006 the in-house home care service was successfully inspected by the CSCI. The report can be viewed on their website by searching for Lewisham Homecare.

Home care staff liaise and work in conjunction with social workers, nurses and private domiciliary care agencies to ensure that service users needs are met.

The service has made a conscientious move towards providing help to those who have complex needs and large care packages.

The service is available 7 days a week, every day of the year and service users receive a service up to 4 times daily.

Within the in-house home care service is a special duty team. The team consists of 2 members of staff who provide an environmental cleaning service for Lewisham tenants.

How to access the service
