How to contact the service

Families can self-refer or be referred by another agency they are in contact with.

When we receive a referral, we need to have information that confirms details about the child's disability. This may be recent medical reports or letters from the medical consultants who are responsible for the child's care. The family's consent will have been given before we see these reports.

We will then decide whether a child is eligible for services from the Disabled Children's Service (DCS) using a specific criteria.

If for any reason a child is not eligible for our services, we will provide information about other local and national organisations that may be able to give help and support.

If a child is confirmed as eligible for services, we will complete an assessment to gather further information. This will allow us to make recommendations on support and help for the child and the family.

Families requiring information and advice only, can receive this without needing to go through the above process.
