Smart meter loans

If you live on Lewisham borough, you can now see exactly how much electricity you are using at home with a ‘smart meter’ that you can borrow free of charge from Lewisham libraries.

Smart meters (also known as energy monitors) show the amount of electricity being used in a house per hour, as well as what it costs.

Borrowing a smart meter gives you the opportunity to reduce your use of energy, saving you money and benefiting the environment through reducing CO2 emissions.

How it works
The meter is very easy to use and simply clips on to the wires from your domestic electricity supply meter. The display device shows how much electricity you are using - and how much it changes when you turn things on or off.

You don't need a specialist technician to fit the meters. But if you get stuck, you can talk to council staff for help.

How to borrow a smart meter
Smart meters are available free to library users, from all Lewisham libraries. The meters can be loaned for three weeks - just like taking out a library book.
