Furniture re-use

If you have unwanted furniture that can be re-used, there are charitable organisations in the local area to whom you can donate it.

If your furniture is no longer of saleable quality, you can take it to our Landmann Way Reuse and Recycling Centre. Follow the link to 'recycling collection sites' on the left for further information.

Charity shops

There are lots of charity shops in Lewisham that accept good quality items. To find out where your nearest chairty shops are and what they accept, visit the Association of Charity Shops website.

Respond

Respond is a social enterprise. It is a not-for-profit company with registered charity status with the purpose of supplying furnishings to those in need in South East London and Kent. They aim to relieve poverty and improve living standards. The company assists older people, disabled people, people from ethnic minorities, one-parent families and people on low income.

Lee Oasis

Lee Oasis is a voluntary group helping homeless and low-income families and needy people of all ages around Lewisham Borough.

They run a van, for free weekly deliveries and collections of old furniture, including some cookers and fridges. Small wardrobes and chests of drawers are a priority, and all baby equipment - particularly stair gates and cots.

They can even find homes for pans and curtains. Volunteers to help Lee Oasis are also welcome.

Emmaus

Emmaus Communities offer homeless men and women a home, work and the chance to rebuild their self-respect in a supportive, community environment.

They have shops across the country, including one in Greenwich.  Your local branch can collect your unwanted furniture and small electric appliances and resell them.

Deptford Action Group for the Elderly (DAGE)

DAGE helps pensioners combat social isolation, get help and advice and provides a meeting place for social activities.

The DAGE charity shops sell furniture, clothing, records, videos and other items. They will arrange collection of large items that are of saleable quality.
