Household waste re-use and recycling centre

The Reuse and Recycling Centre at Landmann Way, offers the most comprehensive range of recycling facilities in the borough.

The centre allows Lewisham residents (only) to dispose of bulky household and garden waste, and includes facilities to re-use and recycle the following items

  • garden waste and wood
  • paper and card
  • textiles
  • fridges and freezers
  • cans and tins
  • plastic bottles
  • scrap metal
  • car batteries
  • gas bottles
  • glass
  • electrical items
  • bulky household items

Opening Times

April 1 - September 30
Sunday to Friday 8am-7pm
Saturday 8am-12noon
Bank Holidays 8am-7pm

October 1 - March 31 (except December 25)
Sunday to Friday 8am-4pm
Saturday 8am-12noon
Bank Holidays 8am-4pm

We are open every bank holiday, apart from Christmas Day.

There are also re-use and recycling centres in other boroughs that you can use, though you will need to pay a small charge to use these.

Guidelines for using the Re-use and Recycling Centre

The following guidelines apply to all users of the re-use and recycling centre:

  • vans are allowed in four times per year (financial year) only from the same address, providing they do not breach any other guideline.
  • vans should seek entry to the site at least 30 minutes before closure.
  • trailers and open back vehicles are not allowed into the site.
  • general DIY and garden waste accepted i.e. paint cans and soil.
  • no asbestos or plasterboard is accepted.
  • no trade waste allowed including waste removed by private contractor on behalf of a resident.
  • no major DIY improvement waste such as wall removal, ceiling removal, bathroom suites, kitchen refurbishment, patios, roofs and central heating systems.
  • all visitors to the site will be asked to provide proof of I.D and address: visitors who are unable to provide appropriate proof may be refused entry to the site.
  • visitors to the site enter at their own risk and must assume responsibility for their own. health and safety, and should dress appropriately
  • staff will not remove items from vehicles unless a request for assistance is made.
  • walkways provided should be used and items must not be thrown from the floor into containers.

You will need at least one of the following documents to confirm your address:

  • an original gas, electricity or telephone bill that is no more than 4 months old.
  • an original Water bill, no more than 12 months old.
  • an original bank/credit card/ building society statement, no more than 4 months old.
  • an original current council rent book or council tenancy agreement.
  • an original council tax bill, less than 12 months old.
  • an original TV licence reminder or vehicle licence reminder, no more than 12 months old.
  • an original housing association tenancy agreement or housing association rent book.

You will need at least one of the following documents to confirm your identity:

  • driving licence
  • credit/debit card
  • work ID
  • gym membership with photo
  • medical card
  • national insurance card
  • passport
