North Deptford consultation

The area north of Evelyn Street includes a number of major sites owned by different private developers. Lewisham Council has already received planning applications from some of them and others are expected in the first half of 2010. If planning permission is granted for any of these developments, they will be built in phases over a number of years. The Council and its partners are continuing to discuss what new facilities and infrastructure may be needed in the area as a result.

This page will be updated regularly with key information on each planning application as it is submitted, plus other background material.

Convoys Wharf

In the next few months, the site’s new owner (Hutchison Whampoa) is expected to submit amendments to an outline application first submitted to the Council in October 2002. It is anticipated that the proposals will remain broadly in line with the 2002 application, which included up to 3,500 new homes, primary school, doctors’ surgery, renovation of Grade II listed warehouse, and three tall buildings (40, 32 and 26 storeys).

In May 2005 the Council resolved to grant planning permission for the proposed development; however permission has not been granted and the application has remained ‘on hold’ since then. Convoys Wharf website (external site)

North Deptford consultation report
In 2008, the Council instigated a programme of activities to help ensure that local people were aware of, and had their say on, the 'big picture' - the combined impact of all these developments added together.

The consultation report includes full and frank comments from the various groups who took part in this consultation, including local young people, residents, businesses and public and voluntary sector organisations.
