Deptford Town Centre

Vision

The Future of Deptford Town Centre programme is a five-year Council-led initiative which will transform the area around Deptford High Street.

The Council has a strong commitment to the future of Deptford Town Centre as a great place to live, work and learn. New buildings will create better facilities for everyone to enjoy. The new Deptford Lounge will become a hub of activity providing a whole range of services, while improving the streets and public square will mean people will want to use them.

New homes, new artists' units and gallery space, and new parking facilities will all strengthen the local economy, improve business opportunities, and build upon Deptford’s reputation for artistic excellence.

Since the programme launched in February 2008 there has been significant progress. The Council has already completed the Wavelengths pool extension while other projects, such as Deptford station, are to commence shortly. While some of our projects are already in development, others are still at the idea stage.

You can find the latest information about all the developments in the programme by following the links on the left.

Have your say

The changes that are planned for Deptford have been drawn up with the help and support of many local people who have given us feedback about what is important for them and what they would like to see within Deptford.

The team is keen to listen to your comments and answer your questions on these proposed changes.
