Deptford and New Cross

The Deptford and New Cross regeneration map gives an overview of each of the schemes taking place or being proposed.

Some of the schemes listed have their own webpages which you can click through for the latest news and information.

The Council views Deptford and New Cross as one of the key opportunity areas for regeneration within the borough. These areas are rich in cultural history and are rapidly gaining a name for themselves as a hub for music, arts and culture.

In March 2009, the New York Times famously urged American tourists to check out the area for themselves, as "with the unpolished location comes that most heady of urban ingredients: an edge". Similarly, The Times in the past has reported that "Deptford is... becoming the cultural hub of southeast London" while This is London was heard to ask, "Is New Cross the new Camden?"

The future of Deptford town centre
A programme of works is now underway that will, over the next five years, transform the centre of Deptford. Developments include the station and leisure centre, improved public spaces and streets, and new housing.

North Deptford
Schemes being developed and delivered include a masterplan that focuses on the longer-term redevelopment of several large under-used industrial sites in the north of the borough, and a strategy for improving pedestrian and cycling routes.
