The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted by the Council on 26 July 2006.
The SCI sets out the standards which the Council intends to achieve and how it will achieve them by involving the community in the preparation, alteration and continuing review of all local development documents, supplementary planning documents and in development control decisions.
It is the document which determines the type, extent and timing of consultation in relation to planning matters in the borough.
The statement also aims to ensure that local communities know when, how and for what reason a consultation is to happen.
