Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

Lewisham Council commissioned a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) from Jacobs to inform preparation of the Local Development Framework. The SFRA is a document that provides an overview of flood risk in the borough. The general approach to the assessment follows the Government guidelines set out in Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS25) and has been carried out with the support of the Environment Agency.

The SFRA report focuses upon identifying the sources of flooding, providing an assessment of the level of flooding associated with identified areas and outlining the constraints of flooding on future development proposals.

The SFRA will inform the ‘Sequential Test’ required by PPS25, which requires all proposed development to undergo assessment to determine the suitability of land for development in flood risk areas.

The SFRA and accompanying figures can be downloaded below.
