Which wall in my garden do I own?
This is not actually a planning issue. The answer is that unless it states in the deeds who maintains a particular wall, neighbours must come to an arrangement with each other and any disputes are to be pursued legally. The same applies to boundary lines.
How do I find out who owns a particular piece of land or property?
Contact the Land Registry or valuation and estates services.
I want to build a house on a piece of land, what do I do?
For any new build developments you should read the relevant chapters in the unitary development plan and then consult an architect, rather than coming in to see a duty planning officer, who can only really deal with household and small business applications.
Can I see the original plans to my house?
If it was built before 1947 then check your deeds. We do not store plans. If it was built after 1947 then we may have plans, but we do not usually provide copies and they may not be entirely accurate.
Can I have a copy of the plans?
Only with written consent from the original architect and even then we don't have the ideal facilities to do this. If someone is unable to see the plans to a current application due to age/illness/disability then the relevant case officer can come to visit them with a set of plans.
