You can find advice on how to make your business as environmentally friendly as possible on this page.
The waste hierarchy
The waste hierarchy provides a helpful means of thinking about your waste. It is a model of all waste management options ranked in order of the environmental damage resulting from each.
So, the best approach to waste management (elimination) is at the top of the hierarchy, and the least environmentally friendly approach (disposal) at the bottom.

Awareness campaigns
An awareness campaign involves communication to all staff at all levels, and encouraging their involvement in schemes.
An awareness campaign is a necessary component of a successful waste minimisation/recycling scheme.
Without the active involvement and support of staff a scheme will not be able to progress beyond the planning stage.

Green purchasing
Green purchasing reduces your business’s environmental impact. Consider buying recycled products wherever possible, look out for products with minimal packaging, and ensure your suppliers and contractors adhere to an environmental policy.

Recycling
The majority of waste your business produces can be recycled. Recycling is the conversion of waste into new materials and products.
It is a circular process that makes use of the valuable resources found in our waste, rather than causing environmental damage by disposing of them and literally wasting valuable resources that could be used again.
