A derelict or unused piece of land, some dedication, commitment and green fingers are all that’s required to get a community garden up and running.

| Capital Growth funding
Lewisham has signed up to the Capital Growth scheme, which aims to get 2,012 new community food growing spaces for London by 2012. For Lewisham that means 60 community gardens.
To assist with this Capital Growth have £75,000 of funding for community garden projects, with small grants of between £200-£1,500. Deadline: 11 January 2010.
