New Woodlands School is a primary school for pupils aged 4 - 11.
It caters for those with behavioural, emotional and social difficulty. From September 2007 it will gradually extend provision to cater for pupils up to the age of 14.
The school is the major provider of behaviour support services for our local authority.
New Woodlands has a school, Pupil Referral Unit and an outreach service.
Places are available at the school for children with or without a statement of special educational needs.
Referrals for these placements are made firstly through the outreach teacher and then through contacting the Headteacher and the Inclusion Officer.
Prior to a placement, a meeting is set up with parents, carers and other interested parties.
All specialist provision is intended for young people who have high level needs that are severe or complex and enduring.
