Prendergast-Hilly Fields College

In September 2009 the governors will admit 105 girls to the school’s Year 7.

Applicants who wish to be considered for one of the music places will be required to sit a test to determine their aptitude. On the basis of the test results a shortlist will be established and, if shortlisted, applicants will be required to attend an audition.

Admissions criteria

The admission number of the school is 105. If there are more applications than there are places available, the governors will have regard to the criteria listed below which will be applied in priority order:

  1. Girls in public care in consultation with the executive director for Children and Young People.
  2. A sibling on roll at the time of admission in September 2009. A sibling is defined as a sister or step-sister resident in the same household.
  3. Aptitude for music as judged by applicant’s test result and audition – 10% of the intake is selected on this basis. In the event of a twin being offered a music place her sibling will automatically qualify for a place under the sibling rule.

Applicants who wish to demonstrate their aptitude for music should complete the relevant section of the additional information sheet.

For those places that remain available the following additional criteria are applied:

  1. home to school distance measured as the crow flies from the north door of the main school building
  2. in exceptional cases, applicants with social and/or medical need will take priority over other applicants in 1 above. Consideration will only be given if the school has received supporting evidence from an appropriate professional.

Additional Information Sheets for music applicants and applicants seeking consideration under the social or medical criterion will be supplied by the school to parents with the prospectus. These documents can be collected from the school at any one of the open sessions in September.

In order that their application may be considered properly parents are reminded that they should:
  1. complete an additional information form and return it to the school
  2. check that they have submitted evidence of their daughter’s social or medical need if appropriate.
