The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) recently launched a consultation which outlines proposed changes to make the admissions process for parents as fair, transparent and straightforward as possible.

Success rates
The Council has been successful in ensuring that more parents and children are getting a school of their preference each year.
On 1 March 2007, 93 per cent of children in Lewisham were successful in getting one of their preferred secondary schools compared to 88 per cent the previous year.
