It is often possible for children aged between three and four years to attend a nursery class attached to a primary school. Nursery class attendance does not prioritise the child's right to attend a particular school at the age of five years.
If more nursery places are requested than it is possible to provide at any particular school, the head teacher will make decisions on the basis of the following factors:
- children with a particular medical or social need for that school
- children for whom it is the nearest community nursery class.
See the starting school booklet for a list of schools.
