You can join many of our courses at any time of year even after they have already started. We will adjust your fee to take account of the late start date.

Interviews
Some courses require an interview or assessment before you can enrol. These include Basic Skills, ESOL, EFL, Learning Support, and some computing courses.

How much will it cost?
Fees for each course are shown within the subject listings. There are 3 categories of fees:
- full (F)
- reduced (R) for students over 60 and not in full time employment
- concessionary (C) for students on means tested benefits
Concessionary rate
You will qualify for the concessionary rate if you:
- receive council tax benefit or housing benefit
- receive income support
- receive pension guarantee credit
- receive working tax credit (income below £15,050pa)
- receive income based Jobseekers allowance
- are an asylum seeker in receipt of means tested benefit
- are the unwaged dependant of a person who receives any of the above.
You will need to show evidence to support your claim for a fee reduction when you enrol in person. If you enrol by post or fax please attach a photocopy of your evidence.
If you enrol by phone you must send a photocopy within two weeks of your enrolment.
Access fund
CEL receives an allocation from the Learning and Skills Council to assist students who wish to attend courses which will lead to a qualification or improve their chances of employment.
These funds are available to students who are in exceptional financial circumstances. You can be assisted with the payment of fees, examination costs or additional expenses attached to your course.

Pay by instalments
Fees for courses of 30 weeks or more can be paid in two instalments.
The first instalment is to be paid when you enrol and will be for half of the tuition fee plus the full examination fee where applicable.
The second and final instalment will be paid later in the year.
