Lewisham wins recycling award
Lewisham’s Inner City Sustainable Waste Management Communication and Education Programme won the Sims Award for the Best Information and Communication Campaign in November 2006.
Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA)
This is a key element of the Government’s performance framework for local government. It forms part of a national programme to review the performance of local authorities and to make recommendations for change. It is intended to support local authorities in planning service delivery and performance improvement.
Beacon Council for sustainable energy
The London Borough of Lewisham has been declared a Beacon Council in recognition of its excellent Sustainable Energy work. Lewisham was one of only seven councils to achieve this status.

Lewisham Council has won a prestigious New Statesman New Media Award for its fight against environment crime. The council won the ‘Modernising Government’ category for its use of mobile phone technology to tackle graffiti and fly-tipping.
