Men's health review

The Healthier Communities Select Committee will be conducting a Men's Health Review as part of its work programme for 2006–07.

Objectives

The purpose of the Men’s Health Review is to examine the health services currently delivered to men in Lewisham by:

  • identifying and exploring the reasons for existing health inequalities within the borough
  • engaging with men on the health issues affecting them
  • broadening knowledge and understanding of health scrutiny with health partners and formulating research based evidence and recommendations to feed into the Lewisham Primary Care Trust review of men’s health in 2007.

The review will seek to answer why men living in one particular ward in the borough live on average 6 years less than men living in other parts of Lewisham, and what would make it easier for men to access health services.

How to get involved

The Healthier Communities Select Committee would like the public to get involved and make an active contribution to the Men’s Health Review. This could consist of giving evidence to the review, attending meetings, providing ideas in respect of improving men’s health services in the borough, or just responding to the recommendations that will be made.

If you would like to get involved, please contact Eleanor Rees, Policy and Research Officer in Overview and Scrutiny on 020 8314 9534 or at eleanor.rees@lewisham.gov.uk.

You could also contact Roger Raymond, Committee Support Officer in Overview and Scrutiny on 0202 8314 9446 or at roger.raymond@lewisham.gov.uk.
