The Young Mayor

New young mayor elected in Lewisham

Justin Cole has been elected Young Mayor for Lewisham and is joined by Naz Ramadan as deputy, following the Young Mayor elections held on 17 October 2007. You can read the declaration of the results here.

The Young Mayor is in office for one year and has a budget of £25,000 to spend on things to make life better for young people in Lewisham.

Lewisham has the country’s only directly elected Young Mayor and was started in 2004 by Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham.

The Young Mayor is supported by a dedicated Young Advisory Group. Members are drawn from a variety of community and young peoples groups.

All have a chance to influence and advise the adult Mayor and Cabinet.

Any person between the age of 11 and 17 who lives, works or studies in the borough of Lewisham can stand as a candidate for Young Mayor and any person aged between 11 and 18 can vote.
