About the Young Mayor
The Young Mayor for 2009-10 is Jacob Sakil.
The Deputy Young Mayor is Lola Mustapha, aged 15 from Prendergast Ladywell Fields College.
The Young Mayor is in office for one year and has a budget of £25,000 to spend on things to make life better for young people in Lewisham.
Lewisham was the first council to have a directly elected Young Mayor. It was started in 2004 by Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham.
The Young Mayor is supported by a dedicated Young Advisory Group. Members are drawn from a variety of community and young people's groups.
All have a chance to influence and advise the adult Mayor and Cabinet.
