The fifth Lee Green Assembly took place in Manor House Gardens and was attended by over 100 people.
The meeting took a different format from normal, as a party in the park. There was a marquee, with information, children’s activities and entertainment, and members of public were free to drop in during the day.
The Assembly has been working hard over the last year and this meeting was a chance to show the ward what has been achieved so far and what the aspirations for the future are.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn about a new youth club that has been set up in the ward by the assembly and Lewisham Youth Services, the first dedicated youth provision in the ward.
People could also chat to members of the co-ordinating group about plans to improve the environment in the ward, including possibly turning Manor Park into an eco-park.
People could also sign-up to the newly formed ‘Friends of Leegate’ to help change Leegate shopping centre for the better, for good.
There was also the opportunity to learn more about the Assembly in general.
There was entertainment, face painting and henna hand art, as well as cheerleader performances from Northbrook School and St Winifred’s Juniors.
Northbrook School choir also performed, and there was the opportunity to get involved in a community art work depicting Manor House Gardens. Graffiti art and fish-making workshops added to the range of fun activities people could get involved in.
Lots of local groups and societies were also present to provide information on what they do in the local area.
Overall the day was a success with lots of people attending and learning about the Assembly and its work.
