Who can register?

To be eligible to vote you must meet the following criteria:

• You need to be 18 or over to vote at any election. Anyone over 17 is eligible to appear on the register if they satisfy the criteria listed below.
• To vote you need to register at the address where you live. If you change your address you need to register as soon as you move.
• Only British, Commonwealth, Irish and European Union citizens are eligible to vote. However, citizens of European Union Members are only allowed to vote in local or European elections.

Outlined below, is a list of whose citizens allowed to vote in this country.

Citizens of the Republic of Ireland, Cyprus and Malta are eligible to be registered to vote in respect of all elections held in the UK.
