The aim of the the Standards Committee is to promote and maintain high standards of conduct within the council and to assist councillors in following the Council's code of conduct.
Vacancy for independent member.
The Council has an employee code of conduct to promote similarly high standards of behaviour of its staff.
The Council also has a whistleblowing policy to enable allegations of malpractice or breach of a code of conduct to be raised without fear of repercussion.
Members code of conduct
Members have all signed a declaration that they will abide by the Code, which applies when they go about Council business or act as a Council representative. For the full Member Code of Conduct see Part V of the Constitution.
Breaches of members code of conduct
Below is a guide which explains how complaints of breaches of the Member Code of Conduct will be handled. Though these procedures will be used as a general guide to decision-making, every case will be considered on its merits.
In order to make a complaint you will need to fill in the ethics complaints form and send to the monitoring officer by post, fax or email, details on the form and at the bottom of this page.
