The Consumer Rights Toolkit contains 17 fact sheets providing information on consumer rights. It explains what a person’s consumer rights are in various situations, how to complain and where to go to for advice.
The Toolkit is designed to be used by community groups and other organisations that provide advice, information and support to members of the local community.
Some of the subjects contained in the Toolkit include:
- what your rights are when buying goods and services
- points to consider as a consumer
- where people can go in the borough of Lewisham for advice about consumer problems.
About the toolkit
Research suggests that many people, especially from black and minority ethnic communities, are more likely to approach their own community groups for support than the Council or national groups.
On 9 March 2006 Bridget Prentice MP launched the Lewisham CSN Consumer Rights Toolkit and presented representatives from 18 community groups and organisations with their own copy. A further 30 groups and organisations were unable to attend but requested a copy.
