Private hire
Following the implementation of the Private Hire Vehicles Act 1998 which commenced in January 2001, private hire vehicles are required to be licensed.
New drivers must apply and wait to be issued with a full licence before they carry out private hire bookings. All drivers should be licensed in 2007.
