When carrying out building work on a property which is adjacent to the public highway the safety of all users of the highway must be paramount.
A licence or permission may be necessary if you want to place building materials or hoardings on the highway. This can be obtained from the Council, on completion of a form. No license is needed for placing storage materials in private areas.
If you need to put a skip in the road, you must first apply to the council for a permit. Your application must meet all the necessary conditions before permission is granted. The skip owner or supplier is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate regulations are adhered to.
